Surasia claimed that Certain Affinity isn’t working on a battle royale mode for Halo Infinite. Instead, Certain is helping 343 out with, what Surasia describes as a “sort of Invasion 2.0.”

But, if we assume that what Surasai said is true, then Halo fans are in for a treat. Most newer fans probably won’t remember Invasion. The fan-favorite mode was last seen back in 2010 with Bungie’s Halo Reach. The gameplay revolved around pitting teams of six against each other for control over specific map points that took place throughout three phases. According to Surasia, the new version of Invasion for Halo Infinite will let players “hack” Sentinels and would play like a “bigger team battle”, referring to the series’ staple mode that’s about to receive an update soon. Speaking of updates, the leaker warns that fans will have to wait for a while to hear anything about the unannounced game mode from 343 or Certain Affinity. Surasia explains that the soonest that audiences will get a chance to hear about the rumored “Invasion 2.0” will be by “Q3 2022”. In other news, 343 confirmed earlier in January that players can start earning credits from playing Halo Infinite soon. The change is expected to arrive along with Halo Infinite’s second season, which many believe will kick off by May if not June. Meanwhile, the Halo franchise’s former creators, Bungie, have just been acquired by Sony in what many believe is the company’s response to Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
