Capcom showcased Blanka, Dhalsim, E. Honda, and Ken during the livestream. They will be joining the previously confirmed characters Ryu, Guile, Chun-Li, Luke, Jaime, Juri, and Kimberly. The four characters all have updated looks, while most of their movesets are relatively intact. They also feature new moves. For example, Blanka can now throw an electrified Blanka-chan stuffed toy at his opponents. There are currently eleven confirmed characters in SF6. Many more will surely be revealed as the game gets closer to launch.
The gameplay showcase at TGS
Capcom showed off several gameplay modes for Street Fighter 6. The game modes include World Tour, Battle Hub, and Extreme Battle Mode. In World Tour, players can create and customize an avatar that they can take to battle. The avatars have movesets inspired by the original characters in the series with additional visual effects. The World Tour is the main story campaign for SF6 where the player can encounter SF6 characters like Ryu and Chun-Li. The avatars that players create can also visit the Battle Hub where they can meet and challenge other players in an arcade. In the Battle Hub, players will be using the SF6 fighters in one-on-one arcade battles. Battle Hub also seems to add a social function to the game. Players can be seen in the trailer hanging out and participating in other activities such as beating up an old truck in a game called Scrap Heap. The Extreme Battle Mode adds a certain element of unpredictability to the usual one-on-one fights. There are environmental hazards such as rampaging bulls, bouncing explosives, and even features other Capcom characters such as Mets from Mega Man. Players can use these hazards to gain the upper hand in brawls.
Closed Beta for SF6
Capcom also announced that a closed beta will be happening on October 7-10. The beta test will be for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Crossplay is available for players on all platforms. During the closed beta, only eight characters are available. Players can test out Ryu, Chun-Li, Ken, Guile, Luke, Jamie, Juri, and Kimberly. The closed beta will feature Ranked Match, Casual Match, Battle Hub Match, Open Tournament, Extreme Battle, Game Center, and Training game modes. The World Tour will not be available, presumably to prevent spoilers or leaks about the story of Street Fighter 6. Players interested to join the closed beta test can sign up here.
