Is the Dishonored TV show by Netflix confirmed?
According to geek website, Giant Freakin Robot, Netflix is working on a TV adaptation of the Dishonored games. Although the website claims that the information comes from “trusted and proven inside sources”, we recommend taking its report with a grain of salt. Coincidentally, this isn’t the first time that we’ve heard talks of a Dishonored TV show. Back in January 2020, Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad writer Gennifer Hutchison sparked rumors after one of her tweets went viral. Numerous publications quickly picked up on Hutchison’s statement and took it as proof that she was working on a Dishonored TV show. Unfortunately, Gennifer would later clarify that the tweet was more of her sharing her love for the series and not necessarily a confirmation that she was working on a TV adaptation. With that said, it’ll be interesting to see what happens once Dishonored joins the streaming platform’s list of video game adaptations. However, we’re hoping that the adaptation will not copy the series’ narrative. The story is far from TV material - it was very ordinary and designed around top-notch gameplay. We imagine showrunners would find it difficult to translate all that action and assassination to a TV show. So, if the rumors are true, we hope that whoever was hired to write the Dishonored TV series will instead take the steampunk world and craft a unique story set in it.
What’s next for the Dishonored series?
We ranked the Dishonored series as one of the best Bethesda games available to play on Xbox Game Pass, and we have a good reason for it. The franchise was launched back in 2012 and introduced gamers to Corvo Attano, a superpowered bodyguard on a quest to find the culprit responsible for framing him for the assassination of the empress and kidnapping of the rightful heir, Emily. Arkane Studios released a sequel, Dishonored 2, in 2016. It was a direct sequel to the first game and set in the future. It featured two playable characters in Corvo Attano and Emily Kaldwin. The latter has since ascended to the throne following the events of the first game. Since releasing Dishonored: Death of the Outsider in 2017, Arkane Studios has moved on to other endeavors. This includes Deathloop, which appears to take a lot of the same gameplay elements that made the Dishonored series so iconic. After this, Arkane Studios is set to continue working on Redfall, an open-world co-op shooter that players are describing as “Left 4 Dead but with vampires” TLDR; don’t expect Arkane Studios to release a new Dishonored game anytime soon.
