According to Tom Henderson, Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer gameplay reveal will happen in September. This is in line with the multiplayer reveal dates of the last few Call of Duty games, including Black Ops - Cold War (September 9, 2020) and Vanguard (September 7, 2021). In addition, the dates would line up with another previous leak suggesting that the Modern Warfare 2 beta will take place in September as well. There’s a lot riding on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, so it’s understandable why fans are desperate to know more about the game. A huge reason why is that Call of Duty: Vanguard has done a terrible job at keeping the series’ longtime fans entertained. Not only that, but Modern Warfare 2 is expected to be the first mainline Call of Duty game to receive support for at least two years. So, Modern Warfare 2 has to be good. Otherwise, it’s back to the drawing board for Activision Blizzard. What’s interesting here is that Henderson revealed that he hasn’t heard any info about an alpha test. Most if not all Call of Duty games usually have an early testing period before the open beta to garner feedback from veteran players. Infinity Ward appears to be confident enough not to hold an alpha test for Modern Warfare 2. You can take this in a positive or a negative way, but we’re inclined to go with the former based on the studio’s track record. After setting new sales records for the franchise with 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot, Infinity Ward more than deserves the benefit of the doubt that Modern Warfare 2 will be just as good if not better. In the meantime, do keep an eye out for leaks about Modern Warfare 2 and future Call of Duty games. The latest intel to drop suggests that Call of Duty 2024 is already in development.
